Picking The Right Paint Color
Choosing the right paint color is always a challenge and sometimes can be frustrating. You see a color you like in a magazine or in someones house and you fall in love with it. You purchase the paint, hopefully, a sample first, and it doesn’t look the same in your space, why? Lighting is the key factor when choosing the right shade of color.
The color on the paint chip will look different depending on the lighting in the room. If your room has a lot of natural light I recommend changing the color value of the paint one or two shades darker so the color will not look washed out. If the room does not have a lot of natural light, go one or two shades lighter, otherwise the color might look too dark for the room. This is what I have found to be a helpful tool when choosing the right shade.
Tip: Always use the manufacturer brand of the sample you choose. For example, if your paint color sample is Glidden don't color match it with Behr paint, the colors will not be the same. This advice is based on personal experience.
